Biography
James Wiens is a Canadian born landscape artist, who is new to the local art scene but not new to painting. Throughout elementary and high school, James continued to pursue his love of art and studied under a former Hungarian priest who became a master painter and taught him everything he knows. He was offered a scholarship to Emily Carr once he graduated, but like many young people do, he decided to travel instead and hitch hiked across Canada. This journey sparked his love for our beautiful Canadian landscape and studied the work of the 'Group of Seven' along with many others. James continued to work and travel until his late twenties when he decided to settle down and start a family. He chose a career as a Windows salesmen, where he stayed for 40 years. Twenty one of those years was at Westeck Windows, where he was valued by his colleagues and customers. After many long years of the nine to five grind, in March 2023 James decided retire and return to his love of painting. His hope is that his daughter and his grand-daughters will continue on his legacy and sell prints once his time comes. Until then, he's happily painting again.
